
Katie is currently managing the Wade Bourne Nature Center in Clarksville, TN. She is the Natural Resource and Program Supervisor for Montgomery County Parks and Recreation. In the spring of 2020 she finished a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign where she studied contemporary sculpture and taught ceramics. Her thesis research focused on the ethics surrounding the use of animal bodies in, and as, art. She previously attended The Rochester Institute of Technology, The School of American Crafts in NY, where she majored in Glass and minored in American Politics. She subsequently completed her Master of Science for Teachers in Art Education. Katie then spent over a decade teaching art in public schools in Chicago, Illinois. During this time she also operated a small business, Urban Oil Ceramics, selling gifts and home decor as well as teaching adult workshops in her Logan Square studio.
